Davie car break-ins net purses, cellphone

Smash-and-grab burglars have been busy in Davie.

• Between 5:15 and 5:30 a.m. April 28, someone smashed the driver's-side window of a woman's 2007 Honda Odyssey van while she took her child into the Room to Grow Academy, 2550 S. Flamingo Rd. The burglar reached in and grabbed the woman's purse from between the driver and passenger seats. The owner valued the the Coach purse at $860 and said it contained two uncashed checks totaling $3,850, as well as $400 in cash and credit cards.

• At the Mobil gas station at 11400 W. State Road 84, a burglar smashed the driver's-side window of a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse between 4:35 and 4:40 p.m. May 3 and stole a T-Mobile cellphone valued at $350 and $40 in cash.

• A woman told police she parked her 2000 Acura at Robbins Lodge Park, 4005 Hiatus Rd., at 3:45 p.m. April 19. She said that when she returned, both passenger-side windows were smashed out and two handbags containing wallets and identification papers were missing.

DAVIE

Tools taken: Someone cut the padlocks on three garage bay doors at Versatile Warehousing, 4701 SW 45th St., and stole an electrical generator, a table saw, a concrete saw, two hammer drills, two impact screwdrivers and a miter saw between 4 p.m. April 21 and 3 p.m. April 22. The stolen tools were valued at a total of $3,750.

Circuit breakers boosted: Between 3:30 p.m. April 23 and 10 a.m. April 24, someone cut a lock on a construction trailer in the 4100 block of Davie Road and stole 50 electrical circuit breakers valued at $5,000.

Hyundai burglarized: A burglar entered an unlocked 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe in the driveway of a home in the 9000 block of Southern Orchard Road South and stole a leather briefcase that the owner said contained $800 in cash, a Garmin portable Global Positioning System receiver and three checkbooks. The loss was estimated at a total of $1,350.

Gun stolen: A Kel-Tec .380-caliber pistol was reported stolen from an unlocked 2005 Ford Explorer in the driveway of a home in the 1000 block of Seabrook Avenue between 10 p.m. April 27 and 8 a.m. April 28. The gun was valued at $325.

Backhoe heisted: A representative of Atlas Traffic Management Systems, 2801 SW 46th Ave., told police the company was conducting an inventory of its property and discovered that a John Deere backhoe valued at $4,476 had been stolen between April 2 and May 2.

SUNRISE

Missing boat: A man told police that while a he was asleep at his home in the 2900 block of Northwest 105th Lane, someone stole his boat and trailer from the driveway between 4 p.m. April 20 and 5:33 a.m. April 21. He said the Cobia 18-foot fiberglass boat was valued at $28,000 and contained a Yamaha 115-horsepower motor valued at $6,000.

Top cut: Between 11:30 p.m. April 21 and 7:30 a.m. April 22, someone cut the convertible top of a 2006 Nissan 350Z in the driveway of a home in the 12100 block of Northwest 34th Street. Replacement cost was estimated at $2,100.

Home burglary: A man told police that when he arrived at his home in the3300 block of 97th Terrace at 6 p.m. April 25, a window screen had been removed and the rear window and the sliding door were open. He said someone stole a pillowcase and loaded it with jewelry valued at $12,150, $2,500 in cash and $300 in gift cards

WESTON

Theft at the pump: A woman told sheriff's deputies that while she pumped gas at Weston Shell, 1410 N. Park Dr., someone opened the unlocked passenger door of her 2005 Toyota Sequoia and stole her purse between 1:40 and 1:50 p.m. April 29. She said it contained a Sprint cellphone, a gold and diamond ring, $50 in cash, three credit cards and a driver's license.

Theft attempt: A witness told sheriff's deputies that at 4:52 p.m. May 2, he spotted a man wearing a white T-shirt as he mounted a 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle and tried to drive it away from the 4500 block of Weston Road. The witness said the thief realized the motorcycle was locked, got off and let it fall on its side and drove away in an older model Lincoln Town Car.

Garnets stolen: Someone entered a room at the TownePlace Suites by Marriott at 1545 Three Village Rd. between April 9 and April 28 and stole three uncut garnet stones from luggage in the room. The garnets were valued at $300. Sheriff's deputies said there were no signs of forced entry.

Purse taken: In the 4300 block of Diamond Row, a burglar entered an unlocked 2003 Lexus and stole a purse containing a wallet, four credit cards, a driver's license, a Nintendo game and $25 in cash between 1:30 p.m. May 3 and 9 a.m. May 4.
