The Market: The Miami-Ft. Lauderdale DMA makes up nearly a quarter (23%) of Florida's total population with 4.3 million residents and growing - with a projected population growth of 4% in the next five years. The Hispanic Community: The fourth-largest Hispanic market in the U.S., this community is among the most affluent and well-educated in the nation. The proportion of South Florida's population that is Hispanic (47%) is nearly three times higher than the national average (16%). Currently, Miami-Dade County has 1.5 million Hispanics and Broward County has a Hispanic population of 437,500. The Hispanic population is predominantly Cuban, followed by Colombian, Nicaraguan, Puerto Rican, Dominican, Honduran, Mexican, Venezuelan and Peruvian. Also represented are Argentines, Guatemalans, Salvadorans, Ecuadoreans, Chileans, Panamanians, Spaniards and Costa Ricans. Mexicans, who represent two-thirds of Hispanics in the U.S. (65%), make up just 4% of Hispanics in South Florida.
