Kids feel the Power of texts
Posted on Mon, May. 12, 2008
Ah, the power of text messaging. Sometimes it gets you directions. Last week it got Coral Reef Senior High a free concert on its campus.
Radio station Power 96 held a contest asking high school students in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties to text-message them. The high school that sent the most text messages would win the show. More than four million text messages were sent from area schools, and the Baracudas came away the winner.
Last Thursday at the Coral Reef gym the students enjoyed a show from 3 to 5 p.m. that included DJ Def, rapper Plies and Pleasure P, formerly of the Miami-based hip-hop group Pretty Ricky.
