Nancy Cole, Personal Trainer | Running gadgets

Those of us who run regularly have goals, whether it's to improve performance or to stay injury free. When you increase your speed and distance gradually, the risk of injuries is reduced. If you want to run faster and longer, the Nike+ iPod Sport Kit can help.

It includes a sports chip that you place in a special compartment in your Nike+ running shoe. When used with an iPod nano, the chip allows you to hear your time, distance, calories burned and pace, as well as your favorite workout tunes. You can upload your data to your computer and download it through iTunes to nikeplus.com, where you can see your progress and network with other runners. An optional Amp+, worn around the wrist, allows you to control the iPod and voice feedback. The shoes, iPod nano and Amp+ are not included in the kit. The kit is $29 and the Amp+ is $79 at www.nike.com.
