Modest Mouse to roar at Fillmore

Indie-rock faves Modest Mouse made a brief splash into the mainstream when the band's minor hit Gravity Rides Everything was featured in a Nissan commercial. Hardcore fans, however, know there's a lot more to love about this band, which formed in Issaquah, Wash., 15 years ago.
Modest Mouse hits the Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theater on June 23, along with the unlikely pairing of The Dirty Dozen Brass Band. You'll hear plenty from last year's album We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank, for which Modest Mouse recruited ex-Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr.
Tickets ($38.50) go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday.
Also at the Fillmore: The Art of Love Tour brings Grammy-nominated R&B singers Raheem DeVaughn and Chrisette Michele to town June 22.
DeVaughn's hit Woman was nominated for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance, while Michele, whose jazzy voice has drawn comparisons to Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughan, scored a Best Female R&B Vocal Performance nom for If I Have My Way.
Tickets ($39.50) go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday.
Great cutting-edge comedy continues to roll through South Florida. The day Bill Maher performs at the Fillmore, tickets for Chris Rock go on sale for his July 1 show at the Hard Rock Live Arena at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino near Hollywood. Rock just performed at the Hard Rock on Feb. 11, but is coming back with new material.
Tickets ($50, $100 and $150) go on sale at noon Friday.
Classic-rock fans will flock to the Cruzan Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach July 31, as Journey, Heart and Cheap Trick team up for a nostalgic trip.
The Steve Perry-less Journey is sure to play Don't Stop Believing, Anyway You Want It and Open Arms; Heart will do Crazy On You, Barracuda and Alone; and Cheap Trick will churn out Surrender, I Want You to Want Me and The Flame.
Tickets ($59.50-$125 reserved seats; $25 festival lawn; $75 four-pack festival lawn) go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday.
MTV's Making the Band 4 hits Pompano Beach Amphitheatre May 25, with Danity Kane, Day26, Donnie Klang and Cheri Dennis.
Tickets ($48 and $68) go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Also at Pompano Beach: It's a hair-metal bonanza as Cinderella, Warrant, Lynch Mob and Lynam take the stage July 26.
Tickets ($39.50 and $49.50) go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday.
Studio A continues to breathe life into Miami's live-music scene by bringing Nada Surf to town June 2, along with The Republic Tigers.
Tickets ($15) are on sale now.
L.A. band Rooney, which draws inspiration from The Beatles, The Cars and Blur, hits Revolution in Fort Lauderdale June 27.
Tickets ($13 in advance, $15 day of show) are on sale now.
