First Look | Get spicy at The Mint Leaf

Here's a scouting report on Mint Leaf from Miami.com's Amy Reyes:

London restaurateur Ranjit Sood's first U.S. outpost seats about 50 -- and those seats are pretty much filled Thursday through Sunday nights. The posh yet relaxing vibe is complemented by plasma TVs playing Bollywood dance scenes.

The menu focuses mainly on North Indian cuisine. Entrees include tandoori lamb chops in a spicy red sauce over lemon rice and such vegetarian options as makhani matar paneer, fluffy cubes of fresh cheese in a spicy sauce that you can wipe clean with a piece of warm garlic naan. Cheeses, yogurts and chutneys are made in-house.

The distinctive desserts include gajjar ka halwa -- warm, mashed carrots mixed with sugar, pistachios and almonds and topped with vanilla ice cream -- and badam halwa, made from ground almonds, milk, sugar, butter and saffron.
