Rose solid as Team USA cruises past Dominican Republic, 106-71

Chicago Tribune

As far as the Chicago Bulls are concerned, the main statistic for Derrick Rose is his playing time in the second of back-to-back games.

On the court for a decisive 20-0 run Wednesday in USA Basketball's 106-71 demolition of the Dominican Republic, Rose played 13 minutes, 10 seconds in a busy stretch of three games in three days of preliminary-round play.

Previously, there had been no plans to rest Rose in the pool-play finale Thursday against the Mike Fratello-coached Ukraine squad. With Team USA now 4-0, it will be intriguing to monitor whether that stance changes.

Rose finished with six points on 2-for-5 shooting with three assists and one turnover. His plus-minus of plus-23 trailed only Klay Thompson among U.S. guards.
