Boy dies days after being pulled from Gulf

The Associated Press

Okaloosa County Sheriff's investigators say a 2-year-old boy who nearly drowned on Labor Day has died.

The child was pulled from the water about 5 p.m. Monday after he was spotted floating face down in about two feet of water. Someone on the beach performed CPR and the child was flown to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, where he died on Wednesday.

Family members told investigators they'd last seen the boy playing on the sand about six feet from the water's edge.

A Louisiana man also drowned Labor Day on nearby Navarre Beach.
