Indians put Gomes on DL, acquire Gimenez

Cleveland, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - The Cleveland Indians placed catcher Yan Gomes on the seven-day concussion list Saturday and acquired catcher Chris Gimenez in a trade with the Texas Rangers.

Gomes was hit on the left side of the head by a deflected pitch while he was behind the plate during Thursday's game against the Twins and is not yet free of symptoms.

The Indians got Gimenez from the Rangers in exchange for future considerations and will add him to the roster on Sunday.

Gimenez batted .262 with a .331 on-base percentage in 33 games for the Rangers this season and had been playing for Triple-A Round Rock since being sent down on Aug. 10.
