American Airlines announced recently that it will add daily service between Miami International Airport and Viracopos International Airport in Campinas, Brazil, the airline’s 10th destination in the South American country.

The new service is expected to start on Dec. 2, though government approval is still needed. American said it will will transition one daily flight between Miami and Sao Paulo’s Guarulhos International Airport, or GRU, to operate the new route.

American also said it will operate its daily flights between Miami and GRU on a Boeing 777-300ER with capacity for 310 passengers starting in December. The airline currently uses a plane with capacity for 246 passengers on that route.

Service between Charlotte Douglas International Airport and Guarulhos on US Airways will be discontinued as of Oct. 1. American Airlines and US Airways merged last year.

Between Jan. 6 and March 28 next year, the airline will not fly daily between Miami and Milan. American will operate three flights a week between MIA and Milan and four weekly flights between John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York and Milan.
