Equinox is bulking up.

The New York-based upscale health club operator said Monday that it is acquiring the Sports Club/LA properties in Miami, New York, Boston, San Francisco and Washington D.C., as well as the Reebok Sports Club/NY location in New York, from affiliates of Millennium Partners.

In Miami, it has acquired the Sports Club/LA property at the Four Seasons on Brickell Avenue.

Equinox said it will take immediate operational control of the six properties and will begin transitioning the clubs to the Equinox brand.

With the additional properties, Equinox now operates 73 total clubs in the U.S. in 10 major urban U.S. markets, plus London and Toronto.
