Lakers win amnesty bid for Boozer

El Segundo, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Los Angeles Lakers have acquired forward Carlos Boozer.

Boozer was available for silent bidding from any team with salary cap space after being waived using the amnesty clause by the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday.

The amount of the Lakers' bid was reportedly $3.25 million, and it will help offset the $16.8 million Chicago owed him. Chicago will owe the remainder of Boozer's salary, but the Bulls will not be counted against the salary cap for the money they will pay Boozer.

"Carlos is an established veteran and a proven All-Star, who will be a welcome addition to our team," Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak said. "We're very pleased to have won the bidding process and to have gained his rights, and look forward to his contributions next season."

Boozer, 32, played the past four seasons with the Bulls, averaging 15.5 points and 9.0 rebounds in 280 games. The 12-year NBA veteran holds career averages of 16.6 points and 9.8 boards over 790 games with the Cavaliers, Jazz and Bulls.
