Inmate dies days after suicide attempt in Fla jail

The Associated Press

Officials say a 24-year-old inmate from the St. John's County Jail has died from injuries sustained during a suicide attempt.

Deputies say Andrew Dane Dandurand died Wednesday night at Flagler Hospital. He was found unresponsive in his cell with a sheet around his neck on July 11.

The St. Augustine Record (http://bit.ly/1oZINmt ) reports corrections deputies began performing life-saving measures and called Fire Rescue. Crews took him to the hospital.

Dandurand had been jailed since June 15 when he was arrested on charges of felony fleeing, attempting to elude a law enforcement officer and stalking. Deputies were searching for him after learning he could be in possession of an assault weapon and had threatened his ex-girlfriend, her new boyfriend and himself.
