USA Basketball adds DeRozan, Parsons to World Cup roster

Colorado Springs, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - USA Basketball has added DeMar DeRozan and Chandler Parsons to its training camp roster for the 2014 World Cup.

DeRozan and Parsons will join 17 others who were previously selected to take part in the camp that will prepare for this summer's World Cup in Spain. The training camp is set for July 28-Aug. 1 in Las Vegas.

Also set to participate in Las Vegas will be Bradley Beal, DeMarcus Cousins, Stephen Curry, Anthony Davis, Andre Drummond, Kevin Durant, Kenneth Faried, Paul George, Blake Griffin, James Harden , Gordon Hayward, Kyrie Irving, Kyle Korver, Damian Lillard, Kevin Love, Derrick Rose, and Klay Thompson.

"This group possesses outstanding individual talents, while also boasting of excellent versatility and varying amounts of USA Basketball experience," said USA Basketball chairman and national team managing director Jerry Colangelo in a statement Monday. "I am also pleased about the addition of DeMar DeRozan and Chandler Parsons to the USA National Team and to the 2014 training camp. Both played well in last summer's USA Basketball National Team minicamp and went on to record outstanding NBA seasons."

Davis, Durant, Harden and Love were part of the 2012 Olympic basketball team that won gold at the London Games.

The FIBA World Cup, previously known as the World Championship, will be held Aug. 30-Sept. 14.
