New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Detroit Tigers second baseman Ian Kinsler was named to the American League All-Star team on Friday.

AL manager John Farrell announced Kinsler will replace Tigers teammate Victor Martinez, who has been sidelined recently with a sore back and side.

Kinsler was batting .305 with 11 homers, 49 RBI and a .339 on-base percentage entering play Friday. He was acquired in the trade last November that sent slugger Prince Fielder to Texas.

The All-Star Game is next Tuesday at Minneapolis' Target Field.
