Baltimore, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - The Baltimore Orioles placed right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez on the 15-day disabled list Friday with an ankle sprain.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Jimenez, who had been scheduled to start on Saturday against the New York Yankees, was injured on Wednesday when he stepped in a hole in a parking lot, according to the team's official website.

Jimenez was signed in February to a four-year contract and has gone 3-8 with a 4.52 ERA in 18 starts for the Orioles.

He finished third in the NL Cy Young Award voting in 2010 with Colorado but was 32-39 with a 4.45 ERA between 2011 and 2013 with the Rockies and Indians.
