An underground gas leak led to the temporary closure of a Fort Lauderdale pool and park Thursday morning.

According to Deputy Fire Chief Timothy Heiser, a construction crew hit a one-inch gas line three feet underground while working at Croissant Park, 245 West Park Drive. Meanwhile, 70 children and summer camp counselors were playing at the park’s nearby water playground.

A hazardous materials team was called to the scene, and the children were taken to Croissant Park Elementary School. No injuries have been reported.
