Dodgers' Beckett placed on DL

The Sports Network

Los Angeles, CA ( - The Los Angeles Dodgers placed pitcher Josh Beckett on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday because of a left hip impingement.

The move is retroactive to July 7.

Beckett tossed five scoreless innings and picked up the win on Sunday at Colorado, but was removed after just 82 pitches.

Beckett opened the season on the DL with a right thumb contusion, but has made each of his 17 starts since then, going 6-5 with a 2.26 ERA.

The Dodgers recalled right-handed reliever Pedro Baez from Triple-A Albuquerque to fill the roster spot.
