Israeli teens murdered

I’ve heard it said many times, that Jews run Hollywood and the press. If that were so, we’d have more televison shows about Jewish families and The Goldbergs wouldn’t be the first one in 60 years or so.

There would also have been a lot more news about the three teenagers in Israel who were kidnapped by Hamas and found dead on June 30. One of those boys had dual citizenship, he was also an American.

Where is the outrage in the media that an American was kidnapped and murdered? Where are all those people who love and support Israel? Or, do people just not care because these boys were Jews? Just 10 days ago, the Presbyterian Church voted to divest holdings to sanction Israel.

Will they now divest from the Palestinians?

Israel really would like to live in peace with its neighbors, but they need to have neighbors willing to live in peace with them.

Until that day comes, Israelis will go on with their lives and the Israeli government and armed forces will do what they have to do to keep their people safe.

  • Help Turkic in Iraq

Since June 18, the northern Iraqi town of Amirli has been besieged by the ISIS militants. While anti-jihadist forces came within just two miles of the town, its 20,000 mostly Shiite Turkmen residents remain without power, food, or medicine.

  • Congress should vote

It would be a big mistake for President Obama to escalate the military activity in the Middle East on his own. Congress should be made to vote for or against it. George W. Bush was smart in that he had the Congress vote for war. (Of course, calling anyone who voted against it “un-American” didn’t hurt.)

  • Down with Hamas

Hamas’ public execution of 18 alleged informants brings home the reality that Hamas is to Israel as ISIS is the United States, only closer. As the United States reacted in horror to the beheading of James Foley, so, too, did Israel react in horror to Hamas’ murder of three teens simply because they were Jewish.
