King Felix named AL Pitcher of the Month

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Seattle Mariners ace Felix Hernandez was named Wednesday as the American League Pitcher of the Month for June.

Hernandez had a 1.22 ERA in six starts during the month, with 54 strikeouts in 44 1/3 innings and a 3-1 record.

The former Cy Young Award winner extended his own team record to nine straight starts with at least seven innings pitched and two or fewer runs allowed.

Garret Richards of the Angels, Jon Lester of the Red Sox, Yu Darvish of the Rangers, Bud Norris of the Orioles and Danny Duffy of the Royals also received votes.
