Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - The Toronto Blue Jays signed their two first-round draft picks Wednesday, inking pitcher Jeff Hoffman and catcher Max Pentecost.

Terms of the deals were not released.

Hoffman was in the mix to be the No. 1 overall selection, but underwent Tommy John surgery this spring. The right-hander was 3-3 with a 2.94 ERA in 10 starts for East Carolina this season, including double-digit strikeout totals against Western Kentucky (14) and a season-high 16 punch-outs against Middle Tennessee.

Pentecost, from Kennesaw State, came into the 2014 season as a member of the Johnny Bench Award watch list and having won MVP in the Cape Cod League.

This season with the Owls, he hit .422 with nine homers and 61 RBI, and was named the A-Sun Player of the Year, the first to win the award in the history of Kennesaw State.
