Silvercar begins app-based Audi rental service at MIA

Silvercar, an app-based all-Audi car rental service, began taking reservations at Miami Int'l Airport Tuesday for rentals starting July 14.

Miami will be the company's 7th airport location nationwide. Silvercar launched its service at Dallas Fort-Worth Int'l airport in January 2013, and now also serves Dallas Love-Field as well as international airports serving Los Angeles, San Francisco, Austin and Phoenix.

Upon landing at MIA, travelers use the Silvercar mobile app to notify the local concierge team of their arrival. The app then navigates the customer through the airport to the pickup point, where the customer unlocks a fully equipped silver AudiA4 by scanning a QR code on the vehicle’s windshield. Silvercar does not have airport counters or queuing lines; everything, including payment is handled within the app. A simple fuel plan streamlines the return process by charging customers the local market rate for the precise amount of fuel they've used, plus a five-dollar service fee, the company said in a press release. “Silvercar is a bit of Uber meets Virgin America meets Audi all-in-one -- designed to simplify and upgrade the airport car rental experience,” said Silvercar CEO Luke Schneider.

Normal pricing is $89 on weekdays and $59 on weekends, but Silvercar is offering an introductory rate of $59 a day at MIA.
