Twins activate Plouffe, Nunez

The Sports Network

Minneapolis, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - The Minnesota Twins reinstated third baseman Trevor Plouffe and infielder Eduardo Nunez from the 15-day disabled list prior to Monday's game against the Kansas City Royals.

Both players have been sidelined since June 14, with Plouffe missing the last two-plus weeks with a rib injury and Nunez recovering from a strained right hamstring.

Plouffe's 38 RBI through 64 games this season are tied for the team lead, and he's hit .241 with five home runs and 22 doubles for the year.

Nunez owns a .290 average with two homers and 11 RBI in 25 games.

Infielders Pedro Florimon and Jorge Polanco were both returned to the minors in corresponding moves. Florimon was optioned to Triple-A Rochester, while the 20-year-old Polanco was sent to Single-A Fort Myers after collecting his first two big league hits during this past weekend's series at Texas.
