Hillary Zhuner of Miami Beach High School won the first $500 Carole Taran Award for Excellence in Performing Arts. She was selected by the Fine Arts Academy at her school.
Hillary will major in Jazz Vocal Performance at The New School in New York City. She has been a vocalist with the Rock Ensemble for four years and a violinist in the school orchestra.
The Carole Taran Award was created in honor of Taran, an international singer in the 1960s and ’70s and a Miami Beach High alumna. Taran’s nephew and niece, Jason and Allison Novack, founded the award. The winner must attend Miami Beach High and be nominated by the Fine Arts Academy.
