Saratoga Springs, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Leading thoroughbred Palace Malice is stabled at trainer Todd Pletcher's Saratoga barn and set for three races leading to the Breeders' Cup Classic on Nov. 1.
"Tentatively, he has four races scheduled for the remainder of 2014," Dogwood Stable president Cot Campbell posted on the stable's website. "They are: the Whitney Invitational on August 2 at Saratoga; the Woodward on August 30 at Saratoga; the Jockey Club Gold Cup at Belmont; and finally the Breeders' Cup at Santa Anita."
Palace Malice arrived at Saratoga on Tuesday two days after having a four- furlong workout at Belmont Park. The 4-year-old colt covered the half-mile in 50 4/5 seconds.
Palace Malice is undefeated in 2014 with four wins in as many starts. The colt began the year by winning the Gulfstream Park Handicap on March 8 followed by a solid victory at Fair Grounds in the New Orleans Handicap three weeks later. He then claimed the Westchester Handicap at a mile by almost 10 lengths at Belmont on May 11. The colt decisively won the Met Mile on June 7 one year after taking the Belmont Stakes.
He has won seven of 16 career starts for $2,631,135.
