Plea deal talks fall apart in Chris Brown case

Chris Brown is heading to trial in September after rejecting a plea deal for his misdemeanor assault case on Wednesday. Brown was arrested in October and accused of hitting a man during a scuffle in D.C. The singer’s attorney Mark Geragos told the AP that neither party could agree on the events that occurred outside of the W hotel. “They wanted him to read from a script that wasn't true,” Geragos said. “If they want a trial, that's what they’ll get.”

Standing down

It’s a wrap for another reality show. The agency’s director, Col. James Cockrell, has let Alaska Department of Public Safety employees know by email that the state has decided not to participate in another season of Alaska State Troopers, which airs on the National Geographic Channel.

Case dismissed

A former aspiring actor and model withdrew another lawsuit Wednesday claiming an entertainment industry figure sexually abused him, a move that prompted one lawyer to say the four cases were built on lies and character smears. Without explanation, attorneys for Michael Egan III filed papers in federal court in Honolulu voluntarily dismissing the case against former network TV executive Garth Ancier.

Flood drama

Can he get the deposit back? Rob Lowe’s Eurotrip took a frightening turn Wednesday when the actor and his family had to be rescued at dawn from raging floodwaters that engulfed their vacation house in Grasse, France. The Parks and Recreation star, 50, and his son Johnny both posted images on Instagram showing the first floor submerged. “Scariest hour or so of my life,” wrote the teen.

Kids ahead?

Despite her husband Eddie Cibrian’s disapproval, LeAnn Rimes has “consulted doctors” about trying in vitro fertilization, reports Life & Style. Apparently, the divorced father of two doesn’t want more kids, an insider reveals. “But she just doesn’t listen.”

Never forget

Remember the Alamo? Phil Collins sure does. The British 1980s music icon was in San Antonio on Thursday, announcing the donation of his vast collection of artifacts related to the 1836 Battle of the Alamo and the Texas Revolution. Collins first became an Alamo aficionado watching a 1950s Disney miniseries on Davy Crockett as a child in England.
