St. Petersburg, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Tampa Bay Rays placed first baseman/outfielder Jerry Sands on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday.

Sands suffered a strained tendon in his left wrist in Sunday's game against Houston.

The wrist will be immobilized, and he will be reevaluated in three weeks.

Over 12 games this season, the 26-year-old is batting .190 with a home run and four RBI in 12 games.

To take his spot on the roster, the team recalled infielder Cole Figueroa from Triple-A Durham.
