Judge drops charges against Dwyane Wade’s ex-wife

A criminal charge dangling over Miami Heat superstar Dwyane Wade’s ex-wife since 2012 was dismissed by a Chicago judge Thursday afternoon.

The charge of resisting arrest, punishable with up to one year in jail, was dismissed during a short trial in a Cook County courtroom.

And ex-wife Siovaughn Funches’ lawyer stopped just short of claiming that Wade orchestrated the well-publicized arrest to embarrass Funches, with whom he continues to battle over visitation of their two sons and their divorce settlement.

“This was a silly charge in the first place,” said Jon Erickson, Funches’ attorney. “This was the most ridiculous arrest I’d seen in my 25 years as a criminal defense attorney.”

Originally, Funches faced a child abduction rap when she was nabbed by Cook County Sheriff’s deputies at her Chicago home June 16, 2012.

Details of the arrest, including the fact she was injured, were leaked to tabloid websites minutes after it occurred.

Funches, who lost custody of the boys but has visitation rights, was accused by Wade of refusing to return the children to him.

All charges were dropped by prosecutors in 2011, but they wouldn’t dismiss the resisting allegations.

Prosecutors called three witnesses to testify at Thursday’s trial. Among them was a former Chicagoland chief of police who happened to be Wade’s chief of security at the time and who happened to be at the scene of the arrest.

“As a former employee of Mr. Wade, he wasn’t very credible,” Erickson said.

Wade’s former high school sweetheart last week filed a federal lawsuit against Wade’s Chicago attorney and law enforcement officials for false arrest.

New neighbors

Ever so quietly, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s ex-wife got married in Orlando two months ago.

And, from the pictures of Dany Garcia’s new man, it appears he outguns even the star of the upcoming Hercules. Even weirder: The new guy has been The Rock’s personal trainer for three years, and he’s moved in with Dany — down the street from the big screen hero in Southwest Ranches.

According public records, Garcia and bodybuilder Dave Rienzi tied the knot March 29 at the posh Ritz Carlton Grande Lakes.

I’m told Rienzi’s a bodybuilding competitor in the men’s light heavyweight class. He also is The Rock’s trainer since 2011 and is credited for whipping the former wrestler into shape for the filming of Pain & Gain two years ago and for next months’ Hercules.

Rienzi proposed last July — with The Rock’s blessing, said a source close to the actor.

Garcia is a financial adviser and a director of the University of Miami’s Alumni Association. She and Johnson were college sweethearts, but they were divorced in 2008 (Johnson said recently the split sent him into a deep depression). They have a daughter, Simone, who’s about to turn 13.

Out of the woods

Former WSVN-Channel 7 and WPLG-Channel 10 anchorwoman Kelley Mitchell was released from a Miami hospital Friday after she suffered a collapsed lung.

She was admitted at North Shore Medical Center on Memorial Day weekend when she started being unable to breathe normally.

Mitchell has been in the ICU since then.

“I’m so happy to be out,” she said. “I should be back at work Wednesday.”

She currently works as an afternoon anchor on WLRN radio. Mitchell, a cancer survivor, says a pneumonia may have triggered her right lung’s collapse.
