Furcal heads back to DL

The Sports Network

Miami, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Miami Marlins infielder Rafael Furcal has made his way back to the disabled list.

Furcal came up limping after trying to run out a double-play grounder in the third inning of Saturday's game against the New York Mets. Furcal was replaced by Jeff Baker at second base when the fourth inning started.

He was placed on the 15-day DL Sunday with a left hamstring strain.

The 36-year-old Furcal has played in just nine games this season, as he was activated from the 60-day disabled list recently after suffering a hamstring injury in spring training.

He missed all of last season while with the St. Louis Cardinals recovering from Tommy John surgery.

To fill his spot on the roster, the Marlins brought up infielder Derek Dietrich from Triple-A New Orleans.
