Blue Jays' Cecil lands on DL

The Sports Network

Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Brett Cecil was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Thursday.

Cecil left last Friday's start against the Orioles after experiencing tightness in his left groin and attempted to pitch on Wednesday against the Yankees, but walked in a run and served up a three-run triple to Brian McCann before departing. He has been diagnosed with a left groin strain.

Cecil has appeared in 32 games out of the bullpen this season, posting an 0-3 record with a 3.76 ERA and three saves.

In a corresponding move, Toronto recalled pitcher Steve Delabar from Triple-A Buffalo.

Delabar, an All Star in 2013, is 3-0 with a 4.68 ERA in 29 games with Toronto this season.
