Phils OF Gwynn Jr. goes on bereavement list

Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Philadelphia Phillies placed grieving outfielder Tony Gwynn Jr. on the bereavement list following the death of his father, Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn.

Gwynn Jr. is permitted to spend between three and seven days on the bereavement list.

The Phillies filled the roster spot by recalling outfielder Aaron Altherr from Double-A Reading.

Altherr, 23, has hit .245 with four homers and 23 RBI over 52 games for Reading this season.
