Marlins ink top pick Kolek

Miami, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Miami Marlins have signed pitcher Tyler Kolek, their first pick in the 2014 draft.

Kolek was selected with the second overall choice earlier this month.

The 18-year-old right-hander struck out 126 with just eight walks in 60 1/3 innings as a senior for Shepherd High School in Texas this past season. He allowed just 23 hits to go along with an ERA of 0.35.
