Hialeah police arrest camp director in sex sting

Special to the Miami Herald

Hialeah Police have arrested a 26-year-old camp director on charges that he tried to procure an under-aged teenaged girl for sexual purposes.

Raphael Rivero, of Hialeah, was charged Friday with “use of a child in a sexual performance” and using a computer to travel and meet with a minor, lewd and lascivious conduct on a minor under 16, and computer porn.

Rivero, who serves as a camp director at the Hialeah Education Summer Program, apparently tried to talk a 13-year-old girl into sending him nude pictures on SnapChat, according to television station NBC 6. Undercover officers lured him to a theater where he was arrested.

Rivero was arrested and released after posting a $32,000 bond Friday afternoon. His next court hearing is scheduled on July 14.
