PTA-PTSA awards $32,000 in scholarships

SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS: Miami-Dade County Parent Teacher Association awarded $32,000 in scholarships to Miami-Dade high school students.

Miami-Dade County’s Council of Parent Teacher and Parent Teacher Student Associations held an Award and Recognition Ceremony at which $1,000 scholarships were awarded to 32 students. The students were required to have a 2.5 GPA or higher, financial need, two recommendation letters and to write an essay about how the scholarship would benefit them.

Scholarship winners are Daniela Cubillo, Jacob Mosli and Meaghan Nguyen of Alonso and Tracy Mourning High School; Maria Ceballos, Michael Hammond, George Monjarretz, Cole Scanlon and Elisabeth Wurmser of Coral Gables High School; Trevar Brown, Nathalie Sarju and Anabelle Vabre of Coral Reef High School; Yona Weissman Fabra of Michael Krop High School; Daniel Regalado of MAST Academy; Driany Alfonso of Miami Beach High School; Samantha Bowers of Carol City High School; Carl Hughes, Julie Lou and Julianne Ramos of Miami Lakes Educational Center; Amoya Rowe and Elethea Richards of Norland High School; Elizabeth Clervil and Leandra Gonzalez of Northwestern High School; Dhanesh Budhram of Palmetto High School; Samantha Bryant, Maya Hunter and Harmony Jackson of the New World School of the Arts; Vanessa Luquez of North Miami Beach High School; Macie Berry, Philip Leong and Teresa Suits of South Dade High School; David Dingle of Turner Technical Arts High School; and Christina Elder of the Young Women’s Preparatory Academy.

    Doral honors three sixth-graders for their academic achievement

    The Doral City Council recognized sixth-grade students Anirudh Rahul, Fabiano Andrade and Alejandro Lopez of Doral Academy Middle School for their academic achievement during a council meeting.

  • 2012 FCAT & EOC scores database

    Search for your school's standardized test results in this database, containing 2012 FCAT scores for grades 3-10 and end-of-course exams in algebra 1, biology and geometry. The "% passing" for FCAT is the percentage of students who scored at Level 3 or higher. The end-of-course exam scores are the "mean scale score" - they are graded on a scale of 20-80.

  • South Florida Ford and Lincoln dealers seek candidates for their Salute to Education scholarships

    Salute to Education, the scholarship program funded by the South Florida Ford and Lincoln dealers for the past 18 years, has announced that it is currently accepting applications online for one of their $1,500 scholarships. Fifty students will be awarded. They also will be awarding each scholarship winner with a laptop computer in addition to the scholarship grant. Deadline to submit the applications online is January 26, 2012.
