Falcons sign third-round pick Southward

Flowery Branch, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Atlanta Falcons have signed safety Dezmen Southward, their third-round pick in last month's draft.

Southward was the 68th overall selection after a standout collegiate career at Wisconsin. He was a two-time All-Big Ten honorable mention and started 30 of the 54 games he played while never missing a contest.

In four years with the Badgers, Southward finished with 152 total tackles and 11 1/2 for loss with four forced fumbles and a pair of interceptions.
