Q: I plan to remove my present bathtub and install a large custom shower complete with a seat. For the plumbing I want to install a “new trend” type showerhead to keep up with the times. From reading your past articles I know you are up to date on new plumbing fixtures. Can you please help me and suggest a cool new showerhead that I can install?

Grant, Maine

A: I am in tune with your question, and I really mean “in tune.” One of the new showering products that I have worked with combines “music” with a “rainhead” style showerhead. In recent years we have had standard type showerheads with wireless speaker technology, but now the musical showerhead craze has spread into rain-style showerheads as well.

One advantage to this is that usually rainhead showers are installed directly overhead and this can allow the speaker to be in a better listening position. These hi-tech shower heads use a portable water-resistant wireless speaker that pairs up to your smartphone or enabled devices, so you can listen to music and/or news while you shower. When you leave the shower, you can pop out the speaker and take it with you for recharging or continued listening.

Bottom line: With a new musical rain-style shower head, you can groove to the beat while you wash your feet.
