Rockies recall P Matzek to start

Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - The Colorado Rockies recalled left-handed pitcher Tyler Matzek from Triple-A Colorado Springs to make his major league debut against Atlanta on Wednesday.

Matzek, who was selected 11th overall by the Rockies in the 2009 draft, will oppose Braves right-hander Julio Teheran.

The 23-year-old has gone 5-4 across 12 starts with a 4.05 ERA for Colorado Springs this season.

Right-hander Chad Bettis was optioned to Colorado Springs to make room for Matzek on the roster.

Bettis owns an 0-1 record with a 10.05 ERA in 13 relief appearances this season.
