Red Sox bring Napoli back from DL

The Sports Network

Detroit, MI ( - The Boston Red Sox activated first baseman Mike Napoli from the 15-day disabled list on Sunday.

Napoli had been placed on the DL with a sprained finger back on May 25. He dislocated his left ring finger during a head-first slide into second base on April 15 against the White Sox in Chicago. He struggled through the injury, hitting .260 with five home runs and 22 RBI in 43 games before being sidelined.

To make room on the roster, the Sox optioned utilityman Alex Hassan to Triple- A Pawtucket. Hassan went 1-for-7 with a walk and run scored in two appearances after his May 30 call-up.
