Partner with Beckham

Re Michelle Kaufman’s June 1 column, Just give Beckham the waterfront: I’m not a soccer guy by any means but, as Kaufman points out, the slip and the adjacent areas next to AmericanAirlines Arena are a junkyard and an eyesore. Anyone who wants to plunk down $250 million to develop a park and a stadium in my city, unlike the baseball stadium fiasco or even the AA Arena deal, I want to partner with them.

One of the investors, Marcelo Claure, is a Miami Beach resident who loves and has made South Florida his home. I will campaign for David Beckham to get his stadium. It will be fantastic for the city of Miami and South Florida.

Thanks to Kaufman for not being afraid to speak up for what is right for our beloved city.
