Persons up by 2 in Victoria

Victoria, BC (SportsNetwork.com) - Josh Persons posted a 3-under 67 in Saturday's third round and he moved two strokes clear of the field at the Bayview Place Island Savings Open.

Persons ended 54 holes at 12-under-par 198. He will go for his first PGA Tour Canada win on Sunday.

Garrett Sapp also shot 67 and he moved into a share of second place at minus-10. He was joined there by Timothy Madigan (69) and second-round leader Brock Mackenzie (71).

James Allenby (67), Daniel Miernicki (66), Wes Homan (69) and Michael Buttacavoli (70) are tied for fifth place at Uplands Golf Club at 8-under 202.

Persons traded a bogey for a birdie from the second. Birdies on the seventh and ninth moved him to 11-under. Persons had eight pars on the back nine to go with a birdie on the par-5 12th.

Sapp mixed five birdies and two bogeys in his round of 67. Madigan had four birdies and three bogeys for his 69, while Mackenzie had three birdies, two bogeys and a double-bogey in his round of 71.

NOTES: Persons tied for 46th in the season-opener last week ... Defending champion Stephen Gangluff shot 70 and is tied for 44th at 2-under 208.
