Padres' Gyorko lands on DL

San Diego, CA ( - The San Diego Padres placed infielder Jedd Gyorko on the 15-day disabled list Friday with left foot plantar fasciitis.

The move is retroactive to June 4.

Gyorko, who is expected to take an extended period of rest to recover, owns a poor .162 batting average with five home runs and 24 RBI in 56 games for the Padres this season.

San Diego also activated pitcher Eric Stults from the bereavement list. The left-hander is 2-6 across 12 starts with a 5.03 ERA.
