Bears sign QB Clausen to one-year deal

Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Chicago Bears signed quarterback Jimmy Clausen to a one-year contract on Thursday.

Clausen had spent the last four seasons with the Carolina Panthers, who selected the Notre Dame product in the second round (48th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft.

The 26-year-old Clausen threw for 1,558 yards and three touchdowns with nine interceptions while appearing in 13 games, including 10 starts, during his rookie campaign in 2010.

However, Clausen hasn't taken a regular-season snap since his rookie season after the Panthers selected current quarterback Cam Newton with the first overall pick in 2011.

The Bears waived linebacker Lawrence Wilson to make room for Clausen on the roster.
