Summer's hot nail shades!

Granted, the straightforward prettiness of a sheer pink manicure is undeniable. But if there’s ever a time to take a risk with nail color, it’s now. At Browne’s Merchants & Trading Co., a local beauty emporium that’s achieved icon status for its masterful mix of products, the question is, which unexpected shade to use today? Proprietress Nikki Mallon on the season’s most flattering updates:

Deep tangerines "Sassy, uplifting, perfect on every skin tone, and great for fingers or toes," says Mallon, who loves shades like Nars' Libertango and Essie's Capri.

Mad brights "Shellac has been an absolutely brilliant nail revolution, and Creative Nail Design has amazing shades for summer, like Pink Bikini (a bright fuchsia) and Sun Bleached (a clean, pure pastel yellow.)"

Dots "One fun technique is to start with two coats of Essie's hide & go chic, an azure blue, and then pop on some white or red dots. It's a very vintage swimsuit-ylook."
