Re the June 1 article Mazel tov, Berlin: Jews may wish to visit Berlin, and some have actually moved back. I must admit that when I think of traveling to any part of Germany, I ask myself why? I am able to and have traveled pretty much most of the world, but the thought of stepping across those borders creates too much and I remain skeptical that the underlying hatred of Jews has changed. To subject myself to that misery in the name of travel or forgiveness would be hypocritical.
I will spend my money, enjoy my vacations and not support economies that tried to eradicate my race — and that still exhibit growing violent discontent with minorities. We all want to forget the discomfort of remembering “Never Again.” Look around the world; atrocities never end. My children will probably not continue this anger, and I hope they will never have reason to.
