The May 31 article Dissecting economic claims in governor’s race takes almost a full page to analyze the claims and criticisms by Gov. Rick Scott and Charlie Crist. To my dismay, Amy Sherman writes parenthetically, “Former Sen. Nan Rich, D-Weston, is challenging Crist but lags behind in fundraising.”
Rich declared her candidacy long before Crist did, and it is Crist who challenged Rich. What is made clear repeatedly by the media is which Democratic candidate has a larger campaign chest. What is not discussed consistently across the field is where the candidates stand on issues of importance to the state. Don’t let money trump values, conceal past records, sideline issues and close the doors to an open discussion. Let us have primary debates between Rich and Crist.
