LAN Cargo breaks ground on new hangar

LAN Cargo broke ground Wednesday on a new maintenance hangar at Miami International Airport.

The 98,242-square-foot facility, an investment of more than $15 million, is expected to open in July of 2015. It will be used for maintenance checks, engine changes, repairs and other services as well as storage.

LAN Cargo, part of LATAM Airlines Group, is headquartered in Miami; the facility will be the Latin American group’s first maintenance hangar in the United States.
