Jays' Encarnacion named AL Player of the Month

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Toronto Blue Jays slugger Edwin Encarnacion has been named the AL Player of the Month for May.

The first baseman hit a team-record 16 home runs in 30 games during the month, batting .281 with 33 RBI and a .369 on-base percentage.

Encarnacion was the first Blue Jays player to earn the award since teammate Jose Bautista in June 2012.
