Busch wins Nationwide race at Dover

Dover, DE (SportsNetwork.com) - Kyle Busch is now 2-for-2 in his attempt to win all three of NASCAR's national touring series races at Dover International Speedway this weekend.

After winning Friday's Camping World Truck Series event in dominating fashion here, Busch conquered "The Monster Mile" again on Saturday by leading 124 of 200 laps for the victory in the 200-mile Nationwide Series race. He grabbed the lead for the first time during a round of pit stops under caution on lap 77 and then kept the top spot for good.

Busch, a Sprint Cup Series regular, crossed the finish line one second ahead of Trevor Bayne, who is a full-time competitor in Nationwide this year. It was the third win for Busch in NASCAR's second-tier series this season.

"Towards the end, the car got really loose," Busch said. "The last 30, 40 laps there, I was just holding on and trying to hold those guys at bay. Lap traffic was kind of tough, just the way it would loosen your car up when you got to them. This [car] was pretty awesome. I didn't think it was, but it was."

At age 29, Busch has scored a total of 134 wins in all three of NASCAR's national touring series -- 29 victories in Sprint Cup, a record 66 in Nationwide and 39 in trucks.

Busch qualified second for Sunday's 400-mile Sprint Cup race at Dover. If he takes the checkered flag for that event, it would be the second time in his career that he won all three NASCAR races at a track on the same week. He became the first driver in the history of the sport to accomplish that feat in August 2010 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

"Our [Sprint Cup] car has been really fast here," Busch said. "We'll see how it goes tomorrow. We unloaded fast, and I think we'll be alright tomorrow."

Bayne's second-place run marked his season-best finish.

"There were times I would catch Kyle, and times he would pull away," Bayne said. "The last 10 laps we got really tight, and he got through lap traffic better than we did."

Joey Logano, who was attempting to win at Nationwide race at Dover for the fifth straight time, finished third. Logano started on the pole and led 58 laps before Busch took the top position on lap 77.

"We were going for that five in a row here today and just came up short there," Logano said. "We never really had good restarts on the inside, and we didn't have a good enough spot or start to be able to pass cars on the restarts. Our car was just too loose. Every time I would get to someone I would get more free, and if I was able to get under them, I was too loose to clear them. It was kind of frustrating out there."

Matt Kenseth, who is Busch's teammate at Joe Gibbs Racing, finished fourth, followed by rookie Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson.

Brian Scott, Ty Dillon, also a rookie in Nationwide this season, Elliott Sadler and Regan Smith were seventh through 10th, respectively.

Smith remained the leader in the Nationwide championship standings. He holds a four-point advantage over Sadler. Elliott is 22 points behind, and Bayne trails by 27.
