Who has done more for this community? State legislators who sometimes don’t even live in the districts they want to represent and toe the party line even when it hurts South Floridians, or the college that is not only the gateway to careers and better opportunities for hundreds of thousands of students, but is also a resource with a regular stream of cultural events, business support services and community workshops?
The community made itself clear when this issue came to light, loudly supporting Miami Dade College and President Eduardo Padrón. If it is true that state legislators will punish MDC because of comments made by its president, I hope voters remember such pettiness come election time. If they can’t get over it and do good for the people, they need to go.
