Tourism bureau boosts customer service training

The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau said this week that it has enhanced its customer service training initiative.

Called “Miami Begins with Me,” the program has a new training center on the grounds of Miami International Airport and four new classes, which are free and voluntary for attendees.

New curriculum, created by Miami Dade College’s Center for Service Excellence, includes classes that delve into the economic importance of the tourism industry; Miami attractions and annual events and the area’s history, heritage and neighborhoods.

Classes will also be available at the offices of the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau starting in July and at Miami Dade College campuses in the fall.

The initiative kicked off in 2009; since then, more than 25,000 people have gone through the training. More information is available at MiamiBeginsWithMe.com.
